Verla Kolbe, 89, Breckenridge, MN, formerly Wahpeton, ND, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at CHI St. Francis Nursing Home, Breckenridge, MN. A Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date in the Fargo National Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
Verla was born June 18, 1926 in Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of William and Mabel (Matejcek) Frank. She grew up in Tyler, ND and graduated from Fairmount High School in 1944. She moved near Milwaukee, WI, where she lived in St. Nazianz and worked for Wisconsin Bell Telco. She was united in marriage to Lowell Kolbe on August 4, 1951 at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church in Wahpeton. The couple lived in Wahpeton where they raised their five children and spent many summers at Otter Tail Lake, MN. Verla entered CHI St. Francis Nursing Home in November of 2015.
Verla was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and was active in the church circle. She was a loving wife and mother.
Verla is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lowell, Breckenridge, MN; her five children: Ken (Barb) Kolbe, Hudson, WI; Ron (Heidi) Kolbe, Soda Springs, CA; Karen (Mike) Mueller, Red Lake Falls, MN; Jim (Jennifer) Kolbe, Wahpeton, ND; Carol (Curt) Hibl, Horace, ND; five grandchildren: Kasper, Kayla, and Brian Kolbe; Matt Kolbe, and Lisa Sabyan; four great grandchildren: Noam Kolbe Pearson, Logan Kolbe, Evan Sabyan and Emmett Sabyan; her brother, Robert (MaryAnn) Frank, Lincoln, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mabel; her brother Harold Frank and her twin brother, Vernon Frank.
