Wayne Egenes

Wayne Egenes, 84, Hankinson, ND formerly of Mooreton, ND passed away July 1, 2018 at St. Gerard’s Community Nursing Home in Hankinson, ND.  Visitation will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm at Mooreton Lutheran Church with Rev. Gordon Lee officiating.  Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Mooreton.  Arrangements have been entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Wayne was born on January 24th, 1934 in Marmouth, ND. At the age of 4, Wayne was adopted, along with his twin sister Wanita, by Clayton and Ella Egenes of Mooreton, ND. Wayne attended Wahpeton High School until his junior year, finishing his senior year at Oak Grove High School in Fargo, ND. He continued his education at Concordia college for 3 years before joining the NAVY as a pilot. In 1957 he was honorably discharged.

Wayne was an insurance salesman for most of his life. After moving back to Mooreton, you could find him painting houses with his good friend Earl Olson. Wayne was active in the Mooreton Lutheran Church, Founder of ‘Sons of Norway’ (1977), and assisted at St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Christy Egenes (Brian), of Palm Springs, CA and Son, Steve Egenes, of Palm Springs, CA, and Step-Son, Jim Taylor, Hawthorne, CA.

He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Wanita Egenes; and his parents, Clayton and Ella Egenes.

Wayne would like to extend a thank you for the wonderful care received at St. Gerard’s Community of Care and CHI St. Francis Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Gerard’s Community Nursing Home, Mooreton Lutheran Church or The Bagg Bonanza Farm.
