Claude Strege, 79, Wyndmere, ND passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton, ND. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, Barney, ND with Rev. Sean Daenzer officiating. Claude was born on June 28, 1934 to Otto and Myrtle (Solberg) Strege near Lidgerwood, ND. When he was very young the family moved to a farm near Wyndmere where he attended country school and graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1951. He then enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country for four years. When he returned to Wyndmere he attended NDSCS for one year.

Claude was united in marriage to Ann Johnson on November 27, 1959 at Peace Lutheran Church in Barney. They lived in Breckenridge, MN for a short time where Claude worked for Vertin's Furniture Store and Funeral Home. They then moved to Wyndmere where Claude worked for Schmit House Moving Company for 18 years. Claude then started Midwest Sales and Construction in 1974 which he operated for 20 years until his son Mitch took over which is now known as Strege Concrete. Claude then went into sales, especially food sales which he worked at as long as his health would allow. He put many miles on his truck selling products to many loyal customers. He was very loyal to his customers to a point where sometimes family matters waited, but when all was said and done he did make it home for supper and he loved his family very much. Claude became a resident of St. Catherine's Living Center in June, 2010.

Claude was an elder and trustee at Peace Lutheran Church and a member of the Brown-Nelson American Legion Post in Wyndmere. Claude couldn't pass up a good garage sale or auction sale, and was known to be a very good negotiator. Anyone who was a customer of Claude's knew that it wasn't necessarily about buying the products, it was the good visits you got with the products.

Claude is survived by his wife, Ann, Wyndmere; his children, Mitch (Sue) Strege, Wyndmere, Debra (Tim) Lorenz, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Dale Strege, West Fargo, ND; his seven grandchildren; his three great grandchildren; his four brothers, Jim (Joanne) Strege, Wahpeton, ND, Richard (Marlys) Strege, Fargo, ND, Steve (Cindy) Strege, Fargo, Joe Strege, Williston, ND; his sister, Emilia Johnson, Minnetonka, MN; his sister-in-law, Mildred Strege, Lidgerwood, ND.

His was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Myrtle Strege, his sisters, Inez Strege, LeNora Strege, his brothers, Howard, Merlin, Orvis, and Elmer Strege.
