Edward Korth

April 5, 1963 — February 10, 2019

Edward A. Korth, 55, of Wahpeton, ND, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 in his home.  Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton.  A Knight’s of Columbus Rosary and visitation will continue on Friday, February 15 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Fr. Dale Lagodinski officiating.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

On April 5th, 1963, the most courageous and loving man, Edward A Korth, was born to Arthur and Rosemary Korth. He was born in Hankinson, ND at St. Gerards. He attended grade school at St. John’s Elementary school, middle school at St. Mary’s, and graduated from Breckenridge High School. At school, his teachers and Sisters, especially Sister Leanita, who he got his great penmanship from, would remember Ed as being challenging, yet sweet and loving. He had a way of letting everyone know that he loved them.

His family will remember him as being hard working, brave, courageous, strong, and louder than life. Nothing made him prouder than to see his wife start her own business and chase her dreams, seeing his son start an awesome career and excel at it with the 3 most loving children, and watching his daughter marry her best friend and chase her dreams of being a nurse practitioner.

His friends will remember him as being the first one to volunteer to help, the first one to arrive at a job site, and the last one to leave. He was there for everyone at the drop of the hat. He would often leave his own house to help others despite his own home needing love and repair.

Lessons for everyone from Ed: It is never okay to leave the home or hang up the phone without saying “I love you.” If you do, be prepared for a phone call just to hear “I love you.” Everyone knows someone that knows someone that can hang a bag of money in a tree to take care of the problem. Everything can be fixed with duct tape and a few wood shims. Work hard and play harder, and keep the faith.

Edward was quite the character; not easily forgotten, but easily loved.

Edward is preceded in death by his dad, Arthur Korth; paternal grandparents, Arthur W. & Elsie Korth; his maternal grandparents, Joe & Christine Karel; his favorite uncle and God Father “Uncle Ben” and numerous uncles and aunts; his two sisters, Marilyn & Carolyn; and his nephew, Isaiah Thompson.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Gail “Jo” Korth; son, Nicholas Korth with his three children, Isabella, Kinsley, and Alexander; his daughter, Danielle (Nicholas) Mullin; his mother, Rosemary Korth; his brother, Allan Korth; father and mother-in-law, Jay & Janet Cory; brothers in-law, Jason Cory, Chad Cory, Adam (Katie) Cory; sisters in-law, Tresa (Henry) Peck, Stephnie (Jessie Koch) Thompson, Dana Linder, Sonja (Dustin Bruns) Cory, and Jesica (Tom Hornseth ) Cory; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Ed’s family prefers that donations be made to Hunter’s Safety or youth hunting programs.
