Gustavo Perez

Gustavo Perez, age 61, of Fairmount, ND, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019, in his home. He was born on June 15, 1958, in Harlingen, Texas to Zapopan and Pablo Perez. He was the oldest of two children and grew up in Rio Grande Valley of Texas, where he attended school until the 6th grade. He then went to work throughout areas of California and Texas.

In 1977, he got married at 19 years old and had two daughters, Berenice and Brenda. After parting ways with his first wife, he continued to work in Weslaco, TX. In 1990, Gustavo married the love of his life, Carmen Ayala and they relocated to North Dakota where they had two children, Paul and Chantal.

In 1997, their home in Breckenridge, MN, was damaged in a massive flood, so they purchased a home in Fairmount, ND. He worked hard as a Farm Laborer for Miller Farms until his final days.

Gus, as many people knew him by, always knew how to make people laugh. You could always find him with his wife gardening in their yard or having cookouts with his family. He especially loved spoiling his grandkids with ice cream treats or going fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pablo Perez, and his grandson, Anthony Lopez.

Gustavo will be greatly missed by his wife, Carmen Perez-Ayala; children, Berenice, Brenda, Paul and Chantal; grandchildren, Jordan, Shelsy, Gensis, Jacquelin, Alexys, Dalilah, Josiah, Isaiah, Jalen, and Jace; mother, Zapopan Avila-Perez; siblings, Graciela (Norbeto) Mendoza; his nephews, nieces, many great nephews and great nieces; and his special honorable friends, the Cabrera and Perez Family.
