Kenneth Nash, 86, rural Colfax, ND, passed away January 19, 2014, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. The Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 25, at Bethany Free Lutheran Church, rural Abercrombie, ND. Visitation will be Friday, from 5 PM to 7:30 PM, with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. There will also be visitation from noon until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Bethany Free Lutheran Cemetery with Military Honors by the ND Military Honor Guard.
Arrangements have been entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Kenneth Karsten Nash was born on December 23rd 1927 near Colfax, North Dakota to Palmer and Bertha Nash. Ken went home to be with his Savior on January 19th, 2014. Ken attended the Pitcairn School, a one-room schoolhouse, near Colfax, ND. Ken served his country in the United States Army (Air Force branch) in the Philippines from 1945-1946. (In 2005 Ken was awarded a high school diploma from Richland High School in recognition of his military service).

On September 6, 1952, Ken married Mary J. Faust (Valley City). Ken and Mary were happily married for 61 years. Ken was a devoted husband, loving father and doting grandfather. Ken and Mary had six (seven) children, and leaves twenty grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Ken farmed the family homestead that he loved for his entire life. For twenty-three years, Ken was a Pioneer Seed salesman, and enjoyed serving his customers and established friendships that lasted for many years. Ken was a faithful member of Bethany Free Lutheran Church and served as a deacon and trustee. Ken was a 4H leader, coach and township board member for a number of years. Because of his deep faith in Jesus Christ and heart for missions, Ken also served on the World Mission Board for the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations for ten (10) years.

Ken left a legacy of faith for his family, friends and his community. Ken was gracious and selfless in serving others and helping those in need. When he wasn't farming or selling seed, Ken loved spending time with his family. Ken and his family enjoyed camping, visiting relatives and speaking Norwegian with Norwegian Americans. Ken and Mary traveled to Norway twice to see relatives. Recently, Ken participated in a World War II Veteran's Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Ken is preceded in death by parents, Palmer Nash (father), Bertha Nash, (mother), Keith Nash (son) and an infant son.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Mary J. Nash (wife), children, Paul (Laurie) Nash, Brooklyn Park MN; Don (Penny) Nash, Lidgerwood, ND; Kendra Nash, daughter-in-law, Fergus Falls, MN; Marge (Arden) Jacobson, Coon Rapids, MN; Marlow (Ranee) Nash, Colfax, ND; Kermit (Angie) Nash, Plymouth, MN; twenty grandchildren & twenty great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest (Jean) Nash; sister Beatrice (Dan) Faust; and many extended family and friends who knew Ken.

Ken's family would like to extend a special thank-you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the St. Francis Hospital, Dr. Duane Strand, Essentia Health Clinic and the Riveredge Hospice for their outstanding care for Ken.
